FAQ's ----- HOW DO I START PIGEON PRO? Pigeon Pro is a stand alone program. The file "Pigeon Pro.exe" is your application file. Copy this file to the folder you would like to store it. This can be accomplished using Windows Explorer. Once you have copied the file to it's new destination, just double click on the file "Pigeon Pro.exe" and the program should start. CAN I PUT PIGEON PRO ON MY DESKTOP? Yes. Pigeon Pro is just like any other executable application. Using Windows Explorer, right click on the file named "Pigeon Pro.exe". Move your mouse over the "Send To" item. Choose the menu option "Desktop (create shortcut). HOW DO I START WINDOWS EXPLORER? Right mouse click on the start button (the lower left corner). Left click on the Explore option. Windows explorer should now be started WHERE IS MY DATA LOCATED? Your data is held in a folder named "PigeonProData". If you are starting Pigeon Pro from Windows Explorer, then the folder will reside in the same folder that Pigeon Pro.exe resides in. If you created a shortcut on your desktop and start the software that way, then the data folder may be in C:\windows\desktop. This is operating system dependent. SHOULD I BACK UP MY DATABASE? YES!!!! From the Main Menu choose the Maintenance item, and then choose the "Backup Database" option, and follow the instructions. It is your responsibility as a user to back up your database. WHEN I EDIT DATA, WHY IS IT NOT UPDATED IN MY DATABASE? Editing data when you did not mean to can create a very large mess. To try and alleviate this problem Pigeon Pro requires you to press the SAVE button to commit your changes to disk. Until you press the Save button no data changes have been saved. MY REPORTS RUN OFF THE EDGE OF THE PAPER Pigeon Pro Software reports are designed to look best at 10 cpi. Please check your Windows documentation and set your printer to print at 10 cpi. ADD menu -------- LEAGUE - A dialog will prompt you to enter the name of your new League. Press the "OK" button to add the new League. Press the "Done" button when you are finished. After you have entered your new League, the League configuration dialog will be displayed. This is where you enter the specifics for your League like will this League shoot 25 or 50 birds per week? Will this League use a Handicap? Note: Doubles will not be functional until a later release. TEAM - A dialog will display with a drop down list displaying all the Leagues you have entered. Choose the League you want to enter a Team for, and then enter the new Team name. SHOOTER - A dialog will display with a drop down list displaying all the Leagues and Teams you have entered. Choose the League, and Team you want to enter a new Shooter for, and then enter the new Shooter name. ENTER menu ---------- SHOOTER DATA - A dialog will be displayed with all the shooters on your team displayed. To speed up entry, turn on the NumLock key. Use the keypad to enter data, and the Tab key to move from field to field. If your League shoots 25 per week then the second set of edit boxes will be disabled. Enter a 0 (zero) for a shooter with no scores to enter. The "Previous Week" and "Next Week" buttons are used for editing and will be disabled here. Press the "Cancel" button to exit without entering data, or the "Save" button if you wish to save the data. EDIT Menu option ---------------- EDIT SHOOTER DATA - Choose this menu item to edit existing shooter data. You will be prompted to enter a League and a Team, and then the edit shooter dialog will be displayed. You can use the "Previous Week" and "Next Week" buttons to display the previous or next weeks data. The current week being edited is displayed in the upper left hand corner of the dialog. Data will NOT be changed until you press the "Save" button. Once you have pressed the "Save" button, you will be given a chance to change your mind. A message box will be displayed asking you "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO CONTINUE?". If do NOT want to commit the changes to the database, then answer NO to the prompt. The "Done" button will not be active until you have pressed the "Save" button. If you want to exit the dialog without making any changes, then press the "Cancel" key. EDIT LEAGUE CONFIGURATION - The Handicap, percentage, frequency, and number of shooters can be changed at any time. The League Type and Birds per Week are NOT editable. EDIT SHOOTER NAME - Use this option to correct spelling mistakes, etc. EDIT TEAM NAME - Use this option to correct spelling mistakes, etc. EDIT LEAGUE NAME - Use this option to correct spelling mistakes, etc. REPORTS menu ------------ TEAM VERSUS TEAM - A dialog will be displayed where you choose two teams, and a week number. The top shooters scores will be added together and displayed, along with the winning team name. The number of shooters to use for the Team versus Team report is a configurable option in the League configuration. SHOOTER REPORT - A week by week summary of one shooters scores. DISPLAY ONE TEAMS CURRENT STATISTICS - This reports lists all the shooter on one team by average. PRINT INDIVIDUAL REPORTS FOR ALL SHOOTERS ON ONE TEAM - Prints all the individual reports for one team. PRINT ALL SHOOTERS IN ONE LEAGUE SORTED BY AVERAGE - All shooters in a league are printed from highest average to lowest average. MAINTENANCE menu ---------------- BACKUP DATABASE - Follow the instructions to backup your database to the a: drive. DELETE - Delete a League, Team or shooter. Great way to clean up your database at the end of a season. MOVE ONE SHOOTER - Move a shooter from one team to different team. A) You cannot move a shooter to a league that shoots a different number of targets per week than the league the shooter came from. B) If the shooter you are moving has shot LESS weeks than the team they are being moved to, that shooter data will be padded with zeros to match the weeks shot. C) If the shooter you are moving has shot MORE weeks than the team they are moving to, then all shooters on the team to move to will have have their data padded with zeros to match the weeks shot for the moved shooter. In either case B or C, you can edit all the shooters data after the move is completed. MOVE ONE TEAM - Move one team to different league. A) You must move the team to a league that is shoot the same league type. e.g. you must move a doubles team to a doubles league not a singles league.
