This site is primarily intended for the aspiring photographer, those who consider themselves either a beginner, casual, amateur, or serious amateur photographer and want to learn more to improve their photography skills. My name is Neal Olson. I created and maintain the Explore Photography web site and its products. I developed this site for two reasons. First, to provide a means to share some of the photography related knowledge I’ve gained with the hope that this will save you time and money. Second, to provide myself with an opportunity to learn a little bit about web software development and digital imaging. Hopefully, we can both learn something interesting at the same time. I am working independently on this in my spare time. This is not my job, just a hobby. I am not part of a fancy 'dot-com' company. I have no corporate backing, no venture capital, and, for that matter, hardly any spare time! It just provides me with an outlet for some of my interests. A Note About the Photographs on This Web Site I have mixed feelings about displaying photographs online. I've always placed high importance on the color and sharpness in my photographs. But the process of digitally scanning an image and then compressing the file to avoid long download times are both detrimental to color and sharpness. In addition, the different configurations of each person's computer and internet browser result in an inconsistent presentation of the photographs. But I realize this site would be a little dull without them, and besides, what would a photography web site be without photographs!
