From obituary written by the Sisters of St. Benedict: Mary attended the district rural school and finished grade and high school at St. Benedict's. She entered the Scholasticate in January, 1919, and the novitiate the following June. Sister professed vows on July 11, 1921, and celebrated her Golden Jubilee in 1971.
Sister Cassella began her 49 years of teaching with 29 years in Gilman. She was lst and 2nd grade teacher for 13 years, but during that time changed her college major from elementary education to music, and by 1938 she was full-time organist and m sic teacher in Gilman. For shorter periods of time from 1949 to 1970 she was organist and music teacher in Little Falls; Browerville; St. John Cantius, St. Cloud; Pearl Lake; Sobieski and Eden Valley. ~While teaching, she continued taking music and other classes at St. Cloud State College and the College of St. Benedict until 1965, and was Convent Superior for six-year terms in Gilman, Browerville and St. C1oud. In retirement Sister was organist for St. Gertrude's Convent and visitor to patients at St. Cloud Hospital. She performed similar services at Assumption Home in Cold Spring and in the parish in Sobieski until a hip fracture in 1986 and subsequent complications confined her to the infirmary at St. Scholastics.

Like many members of the Cmiel family, Magdalena suffered from adult-onset diabetes. On 8 December 1943 she broke her right arm when slipped and fell on the back step of the house while calling for Tekla. She died died 3 days later of bronchial pneumonia.

The exact date of Jozef's immigration to the United States has not been determined. The earliest record I can find of him in the US shows him as a witness to a wedding in St. Paul on 2 March 1886. He filed his intention for citizenship papers on 31 Janaury 1889 in Fayette county, Pennsylvania. He was granted citizenship on 25 October 1893 in Ramsey County, Minnesota.

Although he lived on a farm, Jozef didn't really do much farming. Census records show him working as a butcher or foreman at rendering factories in New Brighton, Minnesota.

He served in ____________. He and Mary Szczech were introduced by their mothers. At first, Mary didn't want to date him because she believed he was studying to be a priest.

Stanley married¹ Marianna SZCZECH [image] daughter of Jan Tomasz SZCZECH and Theresa MYCZEK on 25 Jun 1919 in St. Anthony Church, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Marianna was born on 3 Aug 1895 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. She died on 23 Mar 1995 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. After their marriage, Stanley and Mary lived on California Street in Northeast Minneapolis. They then build a house at 2630 Randolph St in Minneapolis. Stanley worked as a salesman for Our Own Hardware.
