Picture 1: One small part of the Circus Circus casino.
Picture 2: Anybody want to get married? There are always people walking around with wedding dresses on, getting married.
Picture 3: Part of the Russian troupe doing an amazing jump rope circus act at Circus Circus.
Picture 4: More of the circus act.
Picture 5: What the outside of Circus Circus looks like. This is just one of three towers. I'm in the Main Tower, on the 11th floor in room 1123.
Picture 6: The Circus Circus tower end view.
Picture 7: Front entrance to Circus Circus.
Picture 8: My "living room" in the appartment. You can't see the three semi-live cockroaches on the floor. I did.
Picture 9: My hallway in the appartment. Loma Vista extended stay apparments are VERY nice. 2BR, 2Bath, fully furnished.
Picture 10: The Loma Vista parking lot. See the mountains in the distance? Cool!
Picture 11: More Loma Vista, more mountains.
Picture 12: My front door. The one in the lower left of the four that are in the center of the photograph.
Picture 13: Leaving Loma Vista for the class, I see much traffic. It took over 35 mintues to go 8.2 miles each morning.
Picture 14: As I drive to class, I can see the mountains behind me.
Picture 15: Circus Circus tower in the daytime! Our class was located in the business center in the bottom of this tower.
Picture 16: These slot machines are everywhere. These are just sitting in the hallways of the hotel.
Picture 17: Wes and I went out to find some lunch on Thursday. This is the front of Circus Circus during the day.
Picture 18: This is what we ate for lunch in a small casino nearby. 3/4 pound hotdogs (which were good!) with chili and condiments. All for about $3. Can you believe that? We got SO sick. :-)
Picture 19: In the evening before going to the buffet, we looked around the "Entertainment Dome" in Circus Circus. It's an enormus indoor ammusement park. Amazing. Roller coasters, watter rides, everything.
Picture 20: That's Henrich (from Denmark) on the left, and Phil (our teacher) in the middle. Wes is off getting more crab legs. We waited over an hour and 15 mintues to get into the buffet at the Belagio hotel. And paid $35 each for it. But it was _totally_ worth it. The food was just amazing.
Picture 21: This is about 1/4 of the actual buffet. There are over 160 chefs cooking all of this food.
Picture 22: Now on the strip, this is Ballys.
Picture 23: And here's the Monty Carlo. They're about to do their watter show.
Picture 24: More Monty Carlo.
Picture 25: Pretty blue lights make the watter sparkle. In front of the Monty Carlo.
Picture 26: This time with the flash.
Picture 27: The front of the Paris hotel. Very, very pretty.
Picture 28: Another of the front of the Paris.
Picture 29: More of Ballys.
Picture 30: And even more Ballys.
Picture 31: Part of the watter show in front of the Monty Carlo. Impressive technically and visually. Loud classical music comes from speakers in the sidewalk and the watter moves to the music.
Picture 32: Same watter show.
Picture 33: And more watter show.
Picture 34: When they turn each nozzel on full blast, it makes sort of a thunder sound. When they all go together, the thunder sound is louder than the music and shakes the ground.
Picture 35: Some more of the Paris.
Picture 36: And a bit more.
Picture 37: Paris front door.
Picture 38: The blue balloon of the Paris.
Picture 39: Some nice Arc viewing at the Paris.
Picture 40: And more of the lovely Arc.
Picture 41: The Paris from a different angle.
Picture 42: As you walk allong the strip, all small surfaces are covered with these business cards for local 'escorts'. Most of these pictures are totally X rated. Tons of paid Mexicans hand out these cards on each street corner.
Picture 43: Up close view of the Monty Carlo.
Picture 44: Monty Carlo without the flash.
Picture 45: More Monty Carlo.
Picture 46: This picture was supposed to show how sweet these super-bright displays are. But it was so bright, the our cruddy camera couldn't handle it and it's just a white rectangle. Anyway, each hotel has one of these beautiful displays, and boy are they bright.
Picture 47: Paris Eifel tower looking up it's pants leg.
Picture 48: Brian's peaceful and happy place. Getting work done on Saturday morning.
Picture 49: Trying to find out why the camera's focus is so off.
Picture 50: More focus testing.
Picture 51: While getting to my Matrix move in downtown Las Vegas, I came across this street. At night the whole thing is lights, of course.
Picture 52: Looking the other way down the street. It's hard to see, but many, many people cary alcohol bottles, drinking as they go down the streets.
Picture 53: Saturday afternoon after the Matrix, I walked allong the south side of the strip. This is the Luxor from the front. Nice light!
Picture 54: Here's the New York hotel from the street.
Picture 55: I think this one's called the Excalabur.
Picture 56: Another of the New York.
Picture 57: This happy guy sits in front of the Luxor.
Picture 58: Another of the happy guy.
Picture 59: The very front view of the Luxor. Luxor is where the Blue Man Group plays every night. Very expensive.
Picture 60: The main Luxor sign.
Picture 61: Inside the Luxor. The rooms make up the outer walls. No support in the center either.
Picture 62: Inside the Luxor, no flash.
Picture 63: Through there is the casino.
Picture 64: From outside, ready to get on the tram, you can see the light.
Picture 65: And here's where the light hits the clouds. WAY up there.
Picture 66: Side view of the Excalibur.
Picture 67: Another shot.
Picture 68: Blurry MGM Grand.
Picture 69: MGM Grand, notice totally whited out sign.
Picture 70: New York from street level close up.
Picture 71: MGM Grand agian.
Picture 72: This is a lion in a big glass room in the MGM Grand.
Picture 73: The guy on the left is lauging at the lion until the lion looks him right in the eye. Then the guy takes a stiff drink and shuts up.
Picture 74: There IS a pane of glass between the lion and the people.
Picture 75: This lion is sleeping on a glass ceiling.
Picture 76: The strip.
Picture 77: While driving down the strip, I see this beautiful blue microbus. Licence plate says HRD2FND.
Picture 78: Big lit up sign. This is what I think of when I think of Vegas.
Picture 79: Good view of the Circus Circus sign.
Picture 80: Sunday morning : the view out my sliding door while looking through the mirror above the couch.
Picture 81: Wes, Phil and I are driving to the Hoover dam. We're in the mountains now.
Picture 82: Still driving there. Only takes about 20 minutes. Pretty mountains when you're not used to seeing any.
Picture 83: The mountains are really rough. We're now at the Hoover Dam parking lot.
Picture 84: There's the dam. The wires come from the mountains down to the turbines at the base of the dam.
Picture 85: Me and Wes in front of the cable car thing they use to haul equipment up from the dam to the road.
Picture 86: For $10, this is what you can see! (joke) The eight turbines on the Nevada side. Loud hum, very clean room.
Picture 87: Turbines with flash!
Picture 88: This one makes all the power that the whole dam and visitor's center needs.
Picture 89: Me fat fingering the silly camera.
Picture 90: I'm going to get my $10 worth. I'll take another picture of the turbines.
Picture 91: This thing is _huge_. Big big dam. In fact, damn big.
Picture 92: You can drive or walk along the top of the dam.
Picture 93: Or you can look down. These are the two turbine rooms.
Picture 94: Looking down the Colorado river.
Picture 95: Very sharp looking rocks on the canyon walls.
Picture 96: Now we're on top of the dam, looking down. Would be fun to skateboard down here, if I could skateboard.
Picture 97: Streight down the river.
Picture 98: Here's where the water goes in. The white lines on the walls of the rock are the high water mark. We're at the low point of the river's cycle right now so the water is really low.
Picture 99: Phil's trying to think up another joke that uses the word 'damn'.
Picture 100: This is where the water goes if it overflows.
Picture 101: The lights of the city as we come back.
Picture 102: My room in the Circus Circus.
Picture 103: While eating at the Moroccan place, this belly dancer starts dancing..
Picture 104: Wes, Phil and Jay in the middle of the meal.
Picture 105: This was the third course, the salad. Mmmm..
Picture 106: And she dances again..
Picture 107: We've eaten all 7 courses and are now stuffed.
Picture 108: Our class, doing nerdy things. ;-)
